POWER SKATING

PowerSkating is a high-energy instructional program designed specifically for hockey and ringette players. The program focuses on developing balance, power, agility, speed, and endurance through progressive skills, techniques, and conditioning drills that directly translate to game situations. Participants must already have a foundation of basic skating skills, including the ability to skate forward and backward the full length of the rink using alternate strides, turn, and stop on command without using the boards. For safety, all skaters are required to wear full CSA-approved hockey or ringette equipment. PowerSkate is an excellent complement to hockey and ringette training. Its unique skill award system motivates athletes to continue improving while providing recognition for their progress. The program is geared toward skaters aged 7–11 who are ready to take their skating to the next level.

❯ Common Questions To register for our Pre-Power lessons, skaters must have successfully completed CanSkate Level 2. If your child has not participated in Learn to Skate classes but has experience in minor hockey, we generally recommend that they complete at least one full season of TimBits hockey before enrolling. If a skater’s skills are not yet strong enough to keep up with the pace of the Power Skating program, they may be redirected to a CanSkate class to further develop their skating fundamentals. Our coaches continuously monitor and evaluate each skater to ensure they are placed in the program best suited to their current abilities, allowing them to progress confidently through each stage.
