OUR TEAM
PRE - STAR
This program serves as a transition between CanSkate and the STAR development stream. Entry into this program is by invitation or coach recommendation only. Offered two days per week, PRE-STAR is designed to help skaters progress with greater confidence and effectiveness.
By training more frequently, skaters benefit from increased repetition, which helps build stronger muscle memory and improve skill retention between sessions. This consistent practice accelerates development and reinforces foundational techniques more effectively.
The program also prepares skaters for the STAR 1–5 pathway by enhancing technical skills, supporting overall athletic development through both on-ice and off-ice training, and creating a smoother transition into advanced programming.
This two-day package includes two on-ice sessions and two off-ice sessions each week, with all coaching fees included.
It is a program meant for skaters of any age that have passed Stage 3 CanSkate and are comfortable wearing figure skates. Using Skate Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development guidelines, FSC uniquely orients CanSkate and STAR curriculum toward skaters looking to pursue figure skating.
Working in a group setting, skaters will complete CanSkate stages 4, 5, and 6 and be introduced to STAR 1 dance, freeskate, and skills.
The ideal registration at this level is one full year (fall and winter season), after which skaters are strongly encouraged to acquire a base coach and register for STAR skate.
STAR 1-3
This program is designed for skaters who have progressed from PRE-STAR and are ready to further develop their skills in freeskate, skills, and dance. This level introduces more structured training and helps skaters build confidence as they work toward achieving personal goals.
Skaters train two days per week, which allows for consistent development, increased repetition, and improved skill retention. This structure helps strengthen muscle memory, supports quicker progression, and builds greater confidence through regular practice and feedback.
The STAR 1–3 program also emphasizes age-appropriate training that supports well-rounded athletic development. With both on-ice instruction and off-ice training, skaters improve their flexibility, strength, balance, and overall performance abilities—laying a strong foundation for higher-level programming.
This two-day package includes two on-ice sessions and two off-ice sessions per week, with all coaching fees included.
Star 4 - Gold
This program is designed for figure skaters who are advancing through the intermediate to senior levels of their development. This program focuses on refining skills in freeskate, skills, artistic, and dance, while preparing athletes for higher-level assessments and competitive opportunities.
STAR 4–Gold athletes are typically working through formal evaluations and often participate in competitions throughout the season. At this level, skaters are encouraged to set personal and competitive goals, develop routines, and train with discipline and intention to prepare for both performance and testing.
This one-day training package includes one on-ice session and one off-ice session per week. Off-ice classes focus on enhancing flexibility, core strength, jump technique, injury prevention, and overall conditioning to support more complex skating elements.
Please note that coaching fees are not included in this package and will be invoiced separately by your base coach. Services such as private lessons, choreography, and competition support are considered additional and will be arranged directly with your coach.
The STAR 4–Gold program offers a structured yet flexible pathway for skaters aiming to complete high-level assessments, compete in local and provincial events, or continue building skills for personal excellence and long-term skating goals.
Skaters are encouraged to train 2–3 times per week
